Indoor grills aren’t exactly new, but this latest launch is trying something a little more ambitious.

The new COZYTIME LUMO combines infrared cooking, AI-powered automation, and an integrated smoking system. It does so in an attempt to bring proper grill-style cooking into smaller homes and apartments.

Unveiled at Beyond Expo 2026, we saw the LUMO designed around one big idea: recreating the flavour and experience of outdoor grilling without the smoke, mess, or space requirements that usually come with it.

Instead of traditional heating elements, the LUMO uses an infrared system that heats food directly. COZYTIME says this helps speed up preheating while also cooking more evenly and reducing the risk of drying food out. Furthermore, drippings are routed away from the heating components into a separate grease tray. This should help minimise smoke before it even becomes a problem.

The standout feature, though, is the removable “Flavor Module.” This compartment uses wood pellets or chips to add smoky flavour while keeping the cooking chamber sealed. In doing so, it effectively turns the LUMO into an indoor smoker. The company claims it can deliver charcoal-style taste without filling your flat with smoke. This is something apartment dwellers will probably appreciate.

AI also plays a major role here. The LUMO includes what COZYTIME calls “AI CookPilot,” a system capable of recognising more than 40 different food types and automatically suggesting cooking times, temperatures, and doneness levels. The system factors in thickness and weight, automatically adjusts settings during cooking, and controls everything through a companion app. This allows users to monitor progress or tweak settings remotely.

There are several cooking modes too: indoor smoker mode slows things down and circulates smoke through the sealed chamber, while Fast Grill mode focuses on higher heat for searing. A flat grill mode opens the unit up for wider dual-zone cooking. As a result, it feels a little more like a tabletop grill.

With stainless steel grates and removable grease trays, the grill can be cleaned quickly and the enclosed cooking system reduces heavy residue build up over time.

Whether or not the LUMO is enough to tempt you to ditch outdoor grilling entirely is up to you – and probably the weather – but it does show show AI and cooking can come together for good.
