Ring has just unveiled a sweeping set of upgrades at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, promising smarter alerts, stronger deterrents, and broader home monitoring.

The cornerstone of the announcement is AI Unusual Event Alerts, which notify you when your camera spots activity that doesn’t fit your household’s normal routine. This builds on last year’s Video Descriptions tech, giving you clear context so you can decide whether to act straight away.

Smarter alerts and deterrents

AI Unusual Event Alerts learn what’s typical for your home, then flag anything out of the ordinary. For those who are tired of constant pings, this means fewer false alarms and more relevant notifications.

Alongside this, Active Warnings take deterrence to the next level. If you’re enrolled in Ring’s Virtual Security Guard programme, your camera can issue spoken warnings through its speaker the moment suspicious behaviour is detected, while a trained guard assesses whether further action is needed.

Sensors powered by Sidewalk

Ring also introduced a new family of Sidewalk-enabled sensors. These include door and window contacts, motion detectors, glass-break sensors, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, flood and freeze sensors, and even air-quality and sump-pump sensors.

Because they run on Amazon Sidewalk (a low-power network that extends far beyond Wi-Fi) these devices don’t need a separate hub. Sidewalk is expanding beyond the US into Canada and Mexico now, with the UK, EU, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan set to follow later this year.

A new app store

To round things off, Ring has finally launched a dedicated app store.

Initially available in the US, it offers third-party tools designed to extend what your Ring devices can do. You’ll need a compatible subscription, while some apps may require linking to external services. The catalogue is expected to grow quickly. Users should keep an eye on updates through the Ring app or Ring.com.
