Recipes for takikomi gohan usually begin with a light dashi broth used as the cooking liquid in place of water and can include scant amounts of soy sauce, miring and sake for additional flavoring. Some of the more popular takikomi dishes include Matsu take gohan (Matsu take mushroom rice), tai meshi (rice with sea bream fish) and gomoku gohan (rice with a combination of five ingredients).
