Durin and Philips team up to offer hands-free, codeless smart lock access
Durin is teaming up with Philips Home Access to turn the Philips 3000 Series Wi-Fi Retrofit Lock into something closer to a door that simply knows who you are. The partnership will add true hands-free, codeless entry to the existing lock and is set to roll out in Q1 2026, marking Durin’s first serious move into consumer smart access and home security.
Instead of asking homeowners to rip out existing hardware, the Philips 3000 Series mounts on the inside of most standard deadbolts, keeping the exterior of the door intact while adding Wi-Fi control behind the scenes. Durin’s Door Manager then joins the setup as a separate unit with its own camera and connectivity, watching the doorway and talking directly to the lock.
Once faces and phones are enrolled in the Durin app, the system can recognise authorised people as they approach and trigger the Philips 3000 to unlock automatically. It leans on on-device face matching, phone-based credentials and the upcoming Aliro open standard for secure mobile access, so regular users can get in without opening an app, punching in a PIN or fumbling with a key.
Durin also builds an audit trail. Every unlock is accompanied by a snapshot from the Door Manager’s camera and logged in the app, giving homeowners a visual history.
Existing Philips 3000 Series owners will be able to install the Door Manager as a separate accessory with a short DIY fit, while new buyers will be offered a virtual bundle that pairs both products from the outset. After installing the Philips 3000 retrofit lock and downloading the Durin app, users create an account, connect Door Manager to Wi-Fi and link it to their Philips Home Access profile, at which point the system automatically discovers and pairs with the lock for automated unlocking.
The Philips 3000 Series plus Durin Door Manager package is expected to go on sale in Q1 2026, with existing Philips 3000 users able to join a waitlist for the standalone Door Manager.
