Blink has expanded its smart home lineup with the launch of the Blink Outdoor 2K+, bringing higher-resolution video and updated detection features to its battery-powered security camera range.

The new model updates Blink’s outdoor camera offering at a time when budget-focused smart security increasingly prioritises image clarity, low-light performance, and tighter integration with app-based monitoring.

The Outdoor 2K+ bridges Blink’s 1080p battery cameras and higher-end wired systems by delivering sharper footage without changing the underlying power model.

It builds on Blink’s recent outdoor camera designs, which have prioritised long battery life and straightforward setup over advanced imaging.

Higher resolution and low-light colour video

The Outdoor 2K+ records video at 2K resolution, capturing footage at 2560 x 1440 pixels, which provides more visible detail when identifying visitors, deliveries, or vehicles compared with earlier Blink models.

A built-in 4x digital zoom allows users to inspect specific areas within the frame, extending the camera’s usefulness for driveways, entry points, and garden spaces.

Blink has also improved low-light performance by enabling colour video in dim conditions using ambient light, before switching to infrared black-and-white when light levels drop further.

That approach allows the camera to preserve colour details, such as clothing or vehicle paint, in situations where traditional night vision would normally engage immediately.

Smarter alerts and audio features

With a Blink Subscription Plan, the Outdoor 2K+ supports person and vehicle detection using on-device processing, helping the system distinguish meaningful activity from general motion.

Those smart alerts aim to reduce false notifications triggered by pets, foliage, or weather, an area where budget battery cameras often struggle.

The camera also supports enhanced audio features, allowing users to hear and respond to activity through the Blink app, keeping interaction within the same ecosystem used for live view and notifications.

Blink powers the Outdoor 2K+ using its custom silicon, which supports advanced processing while maintaining battery efficiency across long-term use.

The company rates battery life at up to two years under typical conditions when recording at 1080p resolution with standard settings, aligning with Blink’s existing emphasis on low-maintenance security.

An IP65-rated housing protects the camera against rain, dust, and harsh weather, while its compact design allows it to function indoors as well as outdoors.

The Blink Outdoor 2K+ is available now in black or white, priced at £89.99 for a single-camera system that includes the Sync Module Core.

Users can also add local storage via the Sync Module 2 with a USB drive, sold separately, or opt for a Blink Subscription Plan to access cloud storage for motion clips and live view recordings for up to 30 days.
