Apple TV has two major sci-fi series now airing, with more coming soon
Apple TV remains arguably the best streaming service for sci-fi fans, with two major sci-fi shows airing now and even more new premieres coming soon.
For All Mankind and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters offer Apple sci-fi fans two unique options
Whether space drama or monster mayhem is more your thing, Apple TV has a sci-fi show currently airing for you.
For All Mankind just returned today with a new season. The alt-history space drama enters the 2010s with a Mars-centric season that our own Zac Hall reviewed here.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premiered its latest season just last month, and has new episodes airing every Friday through May 1. The series features Godzilla, Kong, and a new ‘Titan X’ creature.
You can watch each series now with an Apple TV or Apple One subscription.
Both shows have been hits for Apple to the point where they’re even getting spinoffs. One such spinoff is coming very soon and kicks off the next wave of sci-fi premieres.
New and returning Apple TV sci-fi series coming soon
Apple’s next sci-fi series—Star City—is scheduled to premiere right when the latest For All Mankind season wraps up.
Star City arrives Friday, May 29 as a spinoff to For All Mankind told from the Soviet perspective.
The series stars Rhys Ifans (House of the Dragon, Elementary, The Amazing Spider-Man) and looks to lean more into high-stakes thriller vibes.
Shortly after Star City premieres, Apple has another sci-fi series returning for its second season.
Sugar stars Colin Farrell as an LA-based private detective in a noir series with a sci-fi twist. It returns for season 2 on Friday, June 19.
Finally, Apple is widely expected to release a new season of Dark Matter this summer too.
Last fall, star Joel Edgerton said that Dark Matter season 2 is coming in mid-2026—though no official announcement has been made.
Showrunner Blake Crouch announced last July that filming had just completed, with six months of post-production planned. Thus, it’s expected that season 2 is ready to air pending Apple’s schedule.
So while we wait for new seasons of Severance and Pluribus, Apple TV will continue to offer plenty for sci-fi fans to enjoy.
