Gadronics Samsung’s long-delayed Ballie robot may still be nowhere to be seen. However, fresh rumours suggest the company hasn’t completely abandoned its ambitious smart home companion.
New images shared by SammyGuru appear to show what could be the companion app for Ballie. They offer the clearest look yet at how Samsung may have intended users to interact with the AI-powered robot. The leak hasn’t been verified by Samsung, and the source of the images remains unclear. Therefore, it’s worth treating them with a healthy dose of scepticism.
The mockups show Ballie, simply labelled “Home Robot”, alongside status indicators for battery level, location and activity. A prominent “Streaming” button hints at live video functionality. Meanwhile, other controls include options labelled “Home Monitor” and “Greeting”, the latter accompanied by a toggle switch. If genuine, they suggest Samsung envisioned Ballie as more than a mobile smart speaker. These features are centred around home monitoring and remote interaction.
That aligns with Samsung’s original vision for the robot. First unveiled at CES 2020, Ballie was pitched as an AI companion capable of following users around the home and helping with everyday tasks. It could even interact with pets. Four years later, it resurfaced at CES 2024 with Google Gemini integration. There, Samsung demonstrated Ballie patrolling the home, checking in on pets, sending updates to owners and preparing the house before they returned.
A commercial launch looked increasingly likely, with reports pointing towards a 2025 release. Instead, Ballie quietly disappeared once again.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that the project had been sidelined following delays. Samsung described Ballie as an “active innovation platform” and explained that the robot continues to influence the company’s work on ambient AI, smart home intelligence and privacy-focused experiences. However, the company stopped short of confirming whether it would ever reach consumers. Around the same time, Ballie’s official landing page also disappeared.
Despite that, interest hasn’t faded. Ballie remains one of Samsung’s most talked-about smart home concepts, largely because the company has never formally cancelled it.
These latest interface leaks don’t necessarily mean a launch is back on the cards. But until Samsung finally confirms Ballie’s fate one way or the other, every new rumour is likely to keep the dream of a roaming AI home companion alive.
