Ring brings 4K video to battery doorbells for the first time
Ring has announced a major expansion of its smart home lineup, introducing its first battery-powered doorbells with 4K video, along with new wired models, multiple 2K devices, and an updated spotlight camera to improve overall home security coverage.
4K video comes to battery-powered models
The headline addition is the Battery Video Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen), priced at £219.99, which delivers what Ring calls Retinal 4K video along with up to 10x enhanced zoom, allowing users to capture finer details such as faces, packages, and activity around the front door.
Compared to the previous model, which already delivered strong high-resolution video and advanced motion detection, this new version pushes further with full 4K capture and significantly enhanced zoom for greater detail.
Ring says the new battery-powered model also features a redesigned internal architecture with faster charging, helping support high-resolution video while maintaining flexible installation that does not require existing wiring or complex setup, making it suitable for a wider range of homes.
Alongside this, Ring is introducing a wired 4K option in the form of the Video Doorbell Elite, priced at £449.99, which includes similar visual upgrades as well as Power over Ethernet support for more stable connectivity and continuous power.
The wider lineup also includes three newer 2K models at different price points, with the Battery Video Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) priced at £129.99, the Battery Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) at £79.99, and the Wired Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) at £59.99, each offering a different installation type and feature set across the range.
New solar accessory for flexible installation
Ring is also introducing a dedicated solar accessory designed to support its latest battery-powered doorbells, enabling more flexible placement without frequent recharging.
The Ring Solar Charger integrates directly into the mounting design, allowing the doorbell to be installed on top of the charger itself, streamlining setup, maintaining a cleaner installation, and enabling more consistent power delivery over time.
Ring is also continuing its push into AI-powered features through its Ring AI Pro subscription, which introduces tools such as video descriptions, keyword-based search, extended video history of up to 180 days, and longer live view access for improved monitoring.
The new devices are available to pre-order now, including the Spotlight Cam Pro priced at £219.99, as Ring continues to expand its high-resolution camera portfolio while offering a wider range of options across different budgets and installation needs.
