Ring has made a Halloween version of its 4K cam — and we want it right now
Ring is getting into the spooky spirit with a limited-edition twist on its newest 4K Wired Security Camera which is the Candy Cam, a Halloween-themed version that’s equal parts adorable and ingenious.
Available in the US until October 31 for $200, the Candy Cam bundles Ring’s latest high-resolution camera with a set of five festive costumes, allowing you to dress your camera up as a ghost, pumpkin, cat, bat, or spider. Each comes with a matching trick-or-treat bowl that attaches directly beneath the camera. It’s a small touch that cleverly turns your front door setup into an unmannered candy station that still keeps an eye on the action.
If you are unable to be present to distribute your sweet treats, you can use the built-in Live View feature to monitor when the candy bowl is empty or even use the two-way chat feature to reprimand cheeky trick-or-treaters.
While previous years have featured competitions to identify “ghosts” in Ring footage, this is the first time the company has transformed its Candy Cam devices into real Halloween decor.
The deal isn’t worth scoffing at either. You’ll still get the company’s best camera under the costume – with a 4K sensor and future features like Retinal Vision (AI-enhanced video processing) and Search Party (a community tool to help find missing pets).
With no assembly needed, the Candy Cam could be the ideal Halloween treat, whether you’re decorating your porch or simply want the most clever candy bowl around.
