Google’s Gemini assistant has made an early appearance on a TV, hinting that its promised wider rollout might be closer than expected.

The update, which replaces Google Assistant with Gemini, was previously exclusive to TCL’s high-end QM9K series. But an early sighting on a Sony’s Bravia set hints that a wider debut could be on the horizon.

It has a new voice selection interface, which is a standout detail that brings Google TV closer to the company’s smart speakers.

In screenshots posted by the lucky Sony Bravia user, there’s a fresh set of menus that walk you through the switch from Google Assistant. You’ll get to decide on permissions and privacy controls and then pick one of ten voices to become your AI assistant.

The number of voices echoes the number available on mobile, although the names and tone descriptions are closer to what’s offered on Google Nest speakers.

Options like Bloom, Fern, and Magnolia are available, each with its own mood and pitch description, so you can snag the one that matches your mood, vibe, or whatever you’re feeling that day.

It’s worth noting that while this is our first look at the Google Gemini update in the wild, the screenshots – complete with outdated Google branding – suggests this is an unfinished release.

Still, this rollout’s a little rough around the edges, appearing to be an unfinished release. Some logos in the setup interface use older branding, and there’s been no official confirmation from Google that the rollout has begun.

Right now, this appears to be an isolated incident, but it gives us a brief glimpse of what we can expect when the Gemini rollout begins later this year.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
